    1. I think Emily and her husband should get a Just ASK T-shirt because it’s all about Emily. The baby name contest will be a good story Emily can tell her Son or Daughter when they become a teenager.

    11. LOUIS
      Gender: Masculine

      Usage: French, English, Dutch

      The boy’s name Louis \louis\ is pronounced LOO-iss, loo-WEE. It is of French and Old German origin, and its meaning is “famous warrior”. A name used by 18 French kings and numerous saints. The German form is Ludwig; a Latinized version is Clovis, which was borne by a Germanic tribal leader who ended the Roman domination of what is now France and made himself king. Musician Louis Armstrong; scientist Louis Pasteur; authors Louis L’Amour; Robert Louis Stevenson;

This was the name of 18 kings of France, including Louis IX (Saint Louis) who led two crusades, and Louis XIV (the ‘Sun King’) who was the ruler of France during the height of its power, the builder of the Palace of Versailles, and the longest reigning monarch in the history of Europe. Other famous bearers include Louis Riel, a MĂ©tis leader who led a rebellion against Canada, and Robert Louis Stevenson, the author of ‘Treasure Island’ and ‘Doctor Jekyll and Mr Hyde’.

NOT in defense of Lou, My grandfather was name Lois, acually Louis Patrick, hence my name “Patricia” I was named after my grandfather. but with the femine version of Patrick, I never got to meet him, I was told he was a fine man, years ago, down in the Heights him and his brothers had a mattress factory Henderson Brothers, and on the side he made teeth for ppl. How old are you Lou? Was you around back then, I believe that back sometime in the 50s maybe in the 60s I just know it was before my time.

    23. True Friendship’
(With none of that Sissy Crap!!!!)
Are you tired of those sissy ‘friendship’ poems that always sound good, but never actually come close to reality?
Well, here is a series of promises that actually speak of true friendship.
You will see no cutesy little smiley faces on this card-
just the stone cold truth of our friendship.
1.When you are sad — I will help you get drunk and plot revenge against the sorry bastard who made you that way.
      2. When you are blue — I will try to dislodge whatever is choking you.
      3. When you smile — I will know you finally got laid.
      4. When you are scared — I will rag on you about it every chance I get.
      5. When you are worried — I will tell you horrible stories about how much worse it could be until you quit whining.
      6. When you are confused — I will use little words.

      7. When you are sick — Stay the hell away from me until you are well again. I don’t want to catch whatever you have.

      8. When you fall — I will point and laugh at your clumsy ass.

      9. This is my oath….. I pledge it to the end. ‘Why?’ you may ask?, ‘Because you are my friend’. Friendship is like peeing your pants: everyone can see it, but only you can feel the true warmth.

      Comment by adgiant | January 31, 2008 | Reply

    76. George Thomas “Mickey” Leland (November 27, 1944 – August 7, 1989), was an anti-poverty activist and later became a congressman from the Texas 18th District and chair of the Congressional Black Caucus. He was a Democrat.

Leland regularly led soup kitchens and became concerned with the hungry and homeless. He also worked to prevent food aid from being a political tool.

While Leland was controversial in his lifetime for espousing extreme leftist political views, he was also an effective advocate on hunger and public health issues. Many of his colleagues considered him flamboyant for his style of dress and mannerisms, which included wearing a dashiki and eccentric hats.[1]

In 1989 Leland died in a plane crash in Gambela, Ethiopia during a mission to Fugnido, Ethiopia. A total of fifteen people, including Leland, died in the crash. His friend and former fellow Texas legislator, Craig Washington, ran for and was elected to his unexpired Congressional term in December of 1989.
