How can I begin to tell you how much fun I had yesterday at the International Festival. The day stated out very well with meeting people who have seen me before. There where happy to take photos with me. I was remembered from last year. The food was terrific music was great. All types of music. I enjoyed the country music of course.
The best part of the evening was music from the Neville Brothers. Arron Neville. I actually got to meet the Neville brothers. A very big thank you to the Neville brothers for taking time to meet and take photos with me. Also thanks to my friends who joined us, Matt Jones, “The Tall One” and William Hughes, “The Smart One.” I said man I would love to meet the Neville brothers. Matt said, “I bet I could make that happen.” Well, he did and you see the photos as proof. I have to tell all of you I had the best time ever.
It would be a really good thing if we could get a group together and do what I have been doing for a year. I can promise you it will change how people feel about NF, and you will feel better that you did it. Whether you have nf1 or nf2, it is a great thing to let people get to know who we are. I would really like my friend, Brian, to go with me some time. I really think people are more understanding now. It seems to me that people expect me to be there. How cool is that?!! Next stop, the “Art Car Parade!”
Another amazing day out at Minute Maid Park! Lou and I went to the Astros game today. We had a great time. The game was great and the Astros won! It was really nice to see so many nice people. Like Brandon, who saw me on TV and came up to introduce himself. Thank you for doing that!
I saw Cathy Clark, who was my bus driver when I was in school. Lets just say it was over 25 years ago when I used to ride the bus to school.
Cathy remembered me by name. I was so happy when she told me she use to drive me to school. Cathy works at the concession stand in Section 409 of Minute Maid and, I got to tell you, I’ve never been treated with more love and respect than from that entire food area!
I think Cathy is a supervisor or some other type of important person because she was definitely in charge! What a great representative for the Houston Astros staff. Cathy, you made me feel so special and it means the world to me! Hope both you and Brandon will be a regular on my blog. Thank you both for making my day!
After the game, Lou and I went to the fabulous McKee Street Bridge and took some photos. WOW!!! What a beautiful bridge and park! Lou’s friend, Kirk Farris, had single-handedly transformed this bridge and bayou area into a place that is totally cool, beautiful and peaceful! It’s just a few blocks north of Minute Maid Park on McKee Street just south of I-10.
Of course, taking all those photos at Minute Maid and McKee Street made us pretty hungry and thirsty so we went to the new Porch Swing Pub at Washington and Waugh in The Heights for crawfish!!! Man, oh, man, were they good! Lou had beer. I had Coke.
It was a beautiful day!
Tonight was another great night at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo!
I started out with the live stock show and all of the other fun things. Oh, my God! Did I enjoy the FOOD. Everything was to die for. Deep fried Oreos, steak burgers, foot-long sausage sandwiches, giant cinnamon rolls with lots of icing. But don’t take my word for it, check out the photos for yourself.
I went to the Rodeo to see Martina McBride. She was great and the music was terrific! She really sang her heart out. She sang all of her best songs and the crowd loved it. Of course, so did I. Martina loves Houston and she looks forward to her show here every year.
I know why she loves Houston. I feel it every time I go out. So many people here have been so kind to me. I’m thankful to be in a great city like Houston. It made me feel so good when people I never met came up to be today and spoke kind words to me. You will see them in my photos. People like that are heroes to me!
I spoke with Mari Garcia administrator of Gillian Anderson’s Official Web Site, I was asked sometime ago to help out and to contribute a doodle for NF, Inc’s Second National Doodle Day Auction. I was happy to post a blog and do what I can to be of help. Please check out the links and see your favorite Actors and actress and others who have support the fight against NF.
The auction will start on May 8 on eBay. So far there are two pages and more doodles will be added as they come in. Be sure and blog your favorite doodle.
NF, Inc. is raising money for neurofibromatosis through their annual National Doodle Day! As part of NF Awareness month, celebrity doodles will be available for auction on eBay.
Neurofibromatosis is a genetic disorder that affects one in every 2,500 births. NF is more common than Cystic Fibrosis, Muscular Dystrophy and Huntington’s Disease combined. Funds raised from the Doodle Day auction will go to support education, advocacy, coalitions, and research for treatments and a cure.
To all my friends who are reading this blog, I’d like to introduce you to my “Friends of Neurofibromatosis” group on Face Book. We have quite a few members now, over 70. I am now in contact with a few good friends that I had lost contact with from the 1980s. My friend Dr. Vincent “Vic” Riccardi is now part of our “Friends of Neurofibromatosis” group. I’m sure anyone who has NF may know him or have heard of him. Dr. Riccardi is a legend when it comes to neurofibromatosis research and treatment. He has not only been a good doctor, but a good friend. He has done a lot for NF. At one time he was on the Board of the Texas Neurofibromatosis Foundation. He was its Medical Director for many years helping decide where to give the money we raised for research. Hopefully, maybe we could get him to come to the blog from time to time.
Two other friends have showed up too! Megan Phillips and Andy Ganster are now online with us. Megan, Andy and I shot some TV commercials with Lou back in 1989. That’s when we first met Lou through Bob Hopkins, then the TNF Executive Director. Those were some pretty serious commercials but they helped neurofibromatosis get some much needed awareness.
I hope anyone visiting this blog will also join us on Facebook as well. We will all learn as we go alone on Facebook. The games and quizzes are fun and challenge. It a good way to find friend you may have lost contact with. Believe me, I know!
Last night, Lou and I attended a special committee meeting to help plan and execute a fund-raiser to help those with NF in the Houston area. The fund-raiser will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at the Hotel Derek, in the Galleria area of Houston.
I am proud to be Honorary Chairman of this important event and I hope all of my friends can join me in this very worthy cause! Below is a letter from our Houston Highlights Chairman, Ishma Blackwell, detailing the event. It’s going to be a lot of fun!

Dr. Bart Moore say’s “JUST ASK!” with his new mug and state-of-the-art, homeopathic “JUST ASK!” forehead patch
Yep, my good friend and also doctor, Dr. Bart Moore of MD ANDERSON CANCER CENTER. He is proudly displaying the items that he purchased at the “Just Ask!” online store a short time ago. Not only is he a supporter of NF and “Race Across America for NF”, he’s also a very cool guy to have on your side.
Could you get your doctor to take a photo like this? I don’t think so! What a great sense of humor. Thanks for sharing your photo Dr. Moore! You’re the best!!!
Check out what people had to say about Bart at my Flickr account.
Per our conversation on the phone, I would like to welcome you to the Honorary
Board of the Texas Neurofibromatosis Foundation. It is a privilege to have you on the board.
The foundation appreciates all you have done for Texas NF and NF awareness.
We look forward to working more with you in the Houston area.
Talk to you soon.

Cowboy Up, America! When a cowboy’s in a pinch, he just tightens up the cinch, spurs his horse and rides right through it, cause that’s the way the Duke would do it. He’d Cowboy Up.
This year it’s going to be another terrific year for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Just as I did last year, I will be there enjoying all activities for the 2008 show.
This year I plan to see more of the livestock show then I did last year. As for music, there are several performers I want to see this year. There are two I have in mind now, that I want to see Rascal Flatts and Tim McGraw I will see more then one, I hope. All that to look forward too, and I haven’t even started on the great food.
How many of you are planning to go the the Rodeo, and who will you see? It would be a great idea if any of you go, to take pictures and send me a photo and I will make a section for our photos for this year on the blog and Flickr.
Well, a year has passed and we are at a new beginning. I look forward to great things this year. Maybe something new for NF research. Let’s keep hope alive. Now lets talk resolutions. Or promises, or whatever you want to call it. Something I want to do this year is build up my friends list to at least 200 or 300 friends with NF on myspace.com dailystrength.com or youtube.com Any one of the three. Oh yea, one more thing. drink more Starbucks and hopefully meet with some of my friends that I talk with everyday about coffee.
On a serous note. Please remember our real HEROS in 2008 in the U.S. ARMY, and military service members. When you see someone in uniform say thank you.
I don’t know if anyone noticed the new name of the blog but I changed it from “JUST ASK!” to “NF CAFE”. I just thought that NF Cafe felt like a more friendly kind of place to relax, hang-out and talk with friends and have a good time.
I wanted to throw this name out there to see what you thought. I like the name because it has a lot of different meanings to a lot of different people.
Most of us here enjoy our coffee. Shelley and Brian to extreme levels!!! : > ) When I think of coffee, I think of relaxing and good thoughts and good times.
When I think of cafe, I think about relaxing with a nice cup of coffee or going to a nice place for coffee and just enjoying nice conversation with a friend. Like we do here.
It’s an easy name to remember, kind of rolls off the tongue. Also, Cafe and CAFE AU LAIT have a bit of a double meaning to NF people.
So tell me what do you think? Do we keep it as the name of our blog or do we go back to “Just Ask!”? Now let me say that “JUST ASK!” is still the name of my website and will always be. NF CAFE is just a catchy name that we can enjoy and have fun with it.

My friends, Michael & Harold Wiesenthal, of Harold’s men’s store in the Heights, are helping me spread awareness of neurofibromatosis and my website by giving a free “Just Ask!” t-shirt to their customers.
Hopefully, people who receive my shirt will go to my website, www.reggiebibbs.com, to find out more about neurofibromatosis and what they can do to help.
I’ve known Harold and Michael for many years now and I can’t think of two nicer people in the world! They help me by altering my pants for free so that I can fit my leg through the opening. One year, they even staged a fashion show with Carolyn Farb in their store with proceeds benefiting research to help find the cure for NF.
Thank you, Harold and Michael, for helping me get the word out about neurofibromatosis. You both are very, very good friends!
Remember let’s keep this blog on movies. Maybe we can get some ideas of the best movies in our own option. a friend of mine told me I should see the movie 300. I’m not sure if this is a new movie. Have any of you seen the movie. I enjoy going to the movies. Just want to know what are the best ones to see. One of the radio stations ask that question and I think its a good one.
The movie you watched when you were younger, would you say you still like it as much?
“Reggie Bibbs was interviewed on Nov 23, 2007 for Wikinews describing what it is like living with neurofibromatosis and what he has done via his website, blog and other resources to increase awareness of NF.”
Just a reminder to you all that are supporting the blog. Don’t forget to do your Christmas Shopping or any other holiday shopping here on my site. I have a new shipment of Just Ask t-shirts that you can order for friends and family.
Imagine how cool you and your entire family would look sitting in front of a blazing fireplace, drinking a hot, steaming cup of Starbucks coffee or Hot Chocolate, wearing a comfy, cozy Just Ask! T-Shirt
Heck, you’d look just like Sugar Ray Leonard, Greg Gorman, and Arthur Meyerson and other really cool people!!!. Oh, and of course, ME ME ME! Order your holiday Just Ask! T-shirts today and I guarantee delivery before Christmas!!! I’ll make Lou deliver them! : > )
CLICK HERE AND THEN CLICK ON STORE!!! IT’S EASY, EVEN LOU CAN DO IT!!!
Lou and I went to the game today. We won although I don’t think Lou realized there was even a game being played. He was too busy checking out the cheerleaders!
Here is a link to all the photos.
Dear friends, while I was up in Dallas last week helping with the Denise Terrill Golf Classic benefitting NF, I got to talking with a few members of the Texas NF Foundation and we think it’s time that Houston had their own NF support group again.
Back in the 90′s, the Texas NF Foundation actually had an office here in Houston to help those in the area afficted by NF to get the medical help they needed. And just as important. support in their daily lives. Read more »
Reggie was asked to say a few words and, from what I heard, did a tremendous job!
The Denise Terrill Charity Classics is an organization of volunteers whose purpose is to organize and operate the Denise Terrill Charity Tennis Classic and the Denise Terrill Charity Golf Classic. The goal of these charity tournaments is to raise money for research to find a treatment and cure for neurofibromatosis-2.
Last night, Lou and I went to the Verizon Theater to watch our favorite sport, Houston Roller Derby, and I gotta tell you, it was incredible!!! We saw some of the most intense skating we have ever seen. All the skaters were pumped up and ready to leave it all out on the track.
Mistilla the Killa was a woman possessed!!! In the second half near the end when the score was almost tied, she broke the game wide open with an incredible jam that put the Bosses away for good. Dementia was the last jammer of the evening and sewed up the win for the Sirens with a perfect jam!!!
If you haven’t experienced Houston Roller Derby yet, you don’t know what you’re missing. Last night was the last match for this season so you’ll probably need to wait till next year when the league starts again. I know I can’t wait!!!
