My NF T-SHIRT from France!
My friend Francis was nice enough to send me a t-shirt all the way from France. I’m proudly wearing the NF FRANCE t-shirt. Francis also is a bloger here and he has is own blog page as well. He wrote about me in two of his blogs. We recently spoke on the phone and he, like all of us here, is spreading the word about nf and hope there will be a cure some day. There is always hope. The link to the site on the shirt is anrfrance.org If you would you can visit Francis blog. droitaladifference.blogspot.com/
You can use google translate if you don’t know French. It works really well. Some day I will visit France wearing my nf France t-shirt.

NEW 2009 “Just Ask!” AD CAMPAIGN!
We are in the last month of 2008. I’m excited for what we are planning for 2009 and the JUST ASK! campaign. We have just designed a new ad campaign with new photos and messages. The photo shoot was donated by professional photographer and friend, Greg Gorman of Los Angles California.
The new ads will be sent as a public service announcement to a variety of publications throughout the country. Also, we have entered them in the American Advertising Federation award show. The ads will compete with ads from all over the country. This is a great thing to happen, whether we win or not, because our message will be seen from people all over the world. Which means, more people will know about NF. The ads are strong and to the point.
In 2009 I look forward to a bright New Year. We will have a new look. We started with the new t-shirt design. The website will be bright as well. I hope that you will join me in making 2009 brighter. We have the same cause. Awareness of Neurofibromatosis.
My friend Scott Dickson and me on Manhattan Beach!
Thank you Scott for allowing me to be your guest at your home. Lisa, Maeve, and of Course my friend Clive. There is no way I can explain how happy I feel about the way things went for me.
It’s good to be home, but sad to leave the company of my great new friends. Thank you all for your kindness.
Cathy Clark, Brandon, the Astros, McKee St Bridge and the Porch Swing Pub!!!
Another amazing day out at Minute Maid Park! Lou and I went to the Astros game today. We had a great time. The game was great and the Astros won! It was really nice to see so many nice people. Like Brandon, who saw me on TV
and came up to introduce himself. Thank you for doing that!
I saw Cathy Clark, who was my bus driver when I was in school. Lets just say it was over 25 years ago when I used to ride the bus to school.
Cathy remembered me by name. I was so happy when she told me she use to drive me to school. Cathy works at the concession stand in Section 409 of Minute Maid and, I got to tell you, I’ve never been treated with more love and respect than from that entire food area!
I think Cathy is a supervisor or some other type of important person because she was definitely in charge! What a great representative for the Houston Astros staff. Cathy, you made me feel so special and it means the world to me! Hope both you and Brandon will be a regular on my blog. Thank you both for making my day!
After the game, Lou and I went to the fabulous McKee Street Bridge and took some photos. WOW!!!
What a beautiful bridge and park! Lou’s friend, Kirk Farris, had single-handedly transformed this bridge and bayou area into a place that is totally cool, beautiful and peaceful! It’s just a few blocks north of Minute Maid Park on McKee Street just south of I-10.
Of course, taking all those photos at Minute Maid and McKee Street made us pretty hungry and thirsty so we went to the new Porch Swing Pub at Washington and Waugh in The Heights for crawfish!!! Man, oh, man, were they good! Lou had beer. I had Coke.
It was a beautiful day!
Clay Walker at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, 3/14/08
Wow! Tonight I was invited to the Rodeo once again. It was a more then Terrific night. The music was the best I’ve heard so far. Clay Walker sang all of my favorite songs and encouraged everyone to join in. Pretty cool. It was cool to see him ride a horse to the stage. A real Texan.![]()
A big thank you to Laurie Selzer, from MNI (Media Networks Inc) for allowing me to join them in the Verizon West VIP suite. The food was terrific. I wish I knew everyones name I would love to say thank you for the wonderful treatment.
Here are a bunch of photos I took tonight. I hope to add everyone’s names to these when Lou gets them from Laurie!
Rodeo Night With Martina McBride
Tonight was another great night at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo!
I started out with the live stock show and all of the other fun things. Oh, my God! Did I enjoy the FOOD. Everything was to die for. Deep fried Oreos, steak burgers, foot-long sausage sandwiches, giant cinnamon rolls with lots of icing. But don’t take my word for it, check out the photos for yourself.
Click here to see photos from today!
I went to the Rodeo to see Martina McBride. She was great and the music was terrific! She really sang her heart out. She sang all of her best songs and the crowd loved it. Of course, so did I. Martina loves Houston and she looks forward to her show here every year.
I know why she loves Houston. I feel it every time I go out. So many
people here have been so kind to me. I’m thankful to be in a great city like Houston. It made me feel so good when people I never met came up to be today and spoke kind words to me. You will see them in my photos. People like that are heroes to me!
HAPPY NEW YEAR 2008
Well, a year has passed and we are at a new beginning. I look forward to great things this year. Maybe something new for NF research. Let’s keep hope alive. Now lets talk resolutions. Or promises, or whatever you want to call it. Something I want to do this year is build up my friends list to at least 200 or 300 friends with NF on myspace.com dailystrength.com or youtube.com Any one of the three. Oh yea, one more thing. drink more Starbucks and hopefully meet with some of my friends that I talk with everyday about coffee.
On a serous note. Please remember our real HEROS in 2008 in the U.S. ARMY, and military service members. When you see someone in uniform say thank you.
NF CAFE
I don’t know if anyone noticed the new name of the blog but I changed it from “JUST ASK!” to “NF CAFE”. I just thought that NF Cafe felt like a more friendly kind of place to relax, hang-out and talk with friends and have a good time.
I wanted to throw this name out there to see what you thought. I like the name because it has a lot of different meanings to a lot of different people.
Most of us here enjoy our coffee. Shelley and Brian to extreme levels!!! : > ) When I think of coffee, I think of relaxing and good thoughts and good times.
When I think of cafe, I think about relaxing with a nice cup of coffee or going to a nice place for coffee and just enjoying nice conversation with a friend. Like we do here.
It’s an easy name to remember, kind of rolls off the tongue. Also, Cafe and CAFE AU LAIT have a bit of a double meaning to NF people.
So tell me what do you think? Do we keep it as the name of our blog or do we go back to “Just Ask!”? Now let me say that “JUST ASK!” is still the name of my website and will always be. NF CAFE is just a catchy name that we can enjoy and have fun with it.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MOVIE
I have a question and I’m adding to my new blog. Lets talk movies. What was your favorite movie of all time? And if you where going to the movie this weekend what movie would you pay to see?
Remember let’s keep this blog on movies. Maybe we can get some ideas of the best movies in our own option. a friend of mine told me I should see the movie 300. I’m not sure if this is a new movie. Have any of you seen the movie. I enjoy going to the movies. Just want to know what are the best ones to see. One of the radio stations ask that question and I think its a good one.
The movie you watched when you were younger, would you say you still like it as much?

Psych Ward Sirens Win Houston Roller Derby Championship!!!

Last night, Lou and I went to the Verizon Theater to watch our favorite sport, Houston Roller Derby, and I gotta tell you, it was incredible!!! We saw some of the most intense skating we have ever seen. All the skaters were pumped up and ready to leave it all out on the track.

Mistilla the Killa was a woman possessed!!! In the second half near the end when the score was almost tied, she broke the game wide open with an incredible jam that put the Bosses away for good. Dementia was the last jammer of the evening and sewed up the win for the Sirens with a perfect jam!!!
If you haven’t experienced Houston Roller Derby yet, you don’t know what you’re missing. Last night was the last match for this season so you’ll probably need to wait till next year when the league starts again. I know I can’t wait!!!

SUPPORTING MY FRIEND JOHN IN ALASKA
Some time ago I received a heart warming message from John in Alaska. He too is a great parent that has a child with neurofibromatosis. I enjoyed reading his message and I spoke with him about sharing his message here, like I have done with some of your messages. I think its a great place to show John that he is not alone and we support him. Read his message and lets show some love to John. He will be happy to see the support he gets here.

FORTH WORTH MAYOR MIKE MONCRIEF
I received a wonderful letter from my friend from years back. At the time I met Mike Moncrief, he was Senator Mike Moncrief for the State of Texas. And now he is Mayor Mike Moncrief of Fort Worth. He and his wife Rosie have been very supportive in everything I have been involved in. You will see that in the photos in my picture section on Flickr. Mike and Rosie also wear one of my JUST ASK t-shirts. I’m honored to call them my friends!
Here is the email that he sent me today:
“Hey Reggie, I just visited your website and i was most impressed. The ongoing
challenge of raising awareness of NF and search for a cure is made easier by your efforts. By the way, I wear my Tshirt every chance I get and have had numerous folk come up to me and ask about it. Keep up the great work and you are more than welcome to post this email on your blog.
Your Bud,
Mayor Mike
May is National NF Awareness Month!!!
Neurofibromatosis: New Research, Clinics Offer Hope
Newswise — After ten years and $217 million worth of “bench to bedside” research, there are signs of hope in the medical community and among the 1 in 3,000 individuals worldwide who have neurofibromatosis (NF), a serious neurological disorder that causes tumors to grow on nerve sheaths throughout the body, according to the Children’s Tumor Foundation (CTF). And, that is something to celebrate during May, 2007 which is National NF Awareness month. Read more »

Unfortunately, I need to rely on the kindness of strangers to get this type of processing done but soon it will be done! Thank you Texas NF Foundation for allowing me to record video and take lots of photos to share on my website. It was a Saturday full of great fun, great friends and great information!!! Plus, I made a lot of new friends!!! If you have never gone to one before, I definitely recommend you attend the next one. AND CAMP CAMP THIS SUMMER IS A MUST!!!

I LOVE CAKES
Ok, Here is one for you. I am a lover of all desserts. Cakes Pies Cobblers, and the list goes on. My question is what is the highest amount you would pay for a specially ordered dessert? How much is too much? Whether it ‘s for yourself or someone else. One time, it was years ago, on my 18th birthday I bought myself a birthday cake. It cost me $75. At that time it was a lot of money. The cake above I can handle alone.
CALIFORNIA REDWOOD
![]()
Today I’m writing about one of my favorite trees. Next to the Weeping Willow it would be the California Redwood Tree. From what I have read, the Redwood grows only in California? Maybe it’s true. The Redwood trees are quite large. That is one of the reasons I like it. The Weeping Willow is a great looking tree. I love the way the leaves or the branches hang. Tell me your favorite tree and why.
What is your favorite tree ? do you have one?
MORE ON AUSTRALIA
Here is a picture I found that shows a reason why anyone would enjoy a vacation in Australia. It’s called Blue Mountain. Someone else wrote to me about wonderful places to visit when in Australia. If you have had the opportunity to visit, please post your experience.
Someone also mention Melbourne, a beautiful city in the suburbs. I have also seen pictures that are truly beautiful. If you see pictures, you would be surprised. Its a lot of felmiler places form well known movies. Type it in and you will see just how beautiful places Australia has to see.

This weekend I got the shock and surprise of my life! I was going through my emails looking for a phone number when I came across an unopened email dated November 14! It was from my new friend
